1ST INTEGRATED PHOSPHATE COMPLEX IN SOUTH EAST ASIA
Description
Introduction
Leveraging on Sarawak’s competitive power rates and advantageous infrastructure in Sarawak Corridor of Renewal energy for electricity and port proximity, MPA and its joint venture partners will be constructing 1st Integrated Phosphate complex which comprises of Food, Feed and Fertiliser Phosphate as well as Coke and Ammonia plants in Sarawak, Malaysia.

Details of the project are as follows:

1. Location :

The Project is located in Samalaju Industrial Park, Bintulu, Sarawak and will be constructed on 350 acres of land located approximately 61km north-east of Bintulu Port by road along the Suai-Bakam coastal road and 95km and 120km North-West of Bakun and Murum dams respectively. Upon completion

2.  Products and Capacity :

The Phosphate Plant will have an annual production capacity of approximately 500,000 tonnes comprising Yellow Phosphorous, Food Grade Acid (FGA), Technical Grade Monopotassium Phosphate (MKP), Technical Grade Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP), Dicalcium Phosphate (DCP)/ Monodicalcium Phosphate (MDCP), Fertilizer Grade Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP)/ Diammonium Phosphate (DAP). In addition, it would also produce 100,000 tonne of ammonia and 900,000 tonne of coke annually.

3. Our Competitive Edge :

  • Competitive cost of production arising for the efficient use of resources through integration.

  • Flexibility in changing the product mix according to market demand

  • Enjoy competitive electricity pricing.

  • Proximity to major port which will significantly lower the logistics cost

  • Tax free holiday for 10 years under Pioneer Status by MIDA

  • Zero Import duties granted under LMW licence by MIDA

Ensure The Food Security of Malaysia
  • MPAS will be the only producer for N-P soluble fertilizers for paddy & plantation crops and feed phosphates dicalcium phosphate (DCP) for making animal feed.

Partly State-owned
  • MPAS is partly state-owned as Malaysian Technology Development Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional Berhad and a  shareholder of MPA.

Increasing Global Demand for Phosphate
  • The world population is expected to grow at a rate of 1.18% and Asia is expected to be the fastest growing and consuming region for fertiliser phosphate at an annual growth rate of 6.6%.

Strong Technical Capabilities
  • Our production expertise spans across feed and fertiliser value chain, from the manufacturing of weak phosphoric acid to the production of feed and fertiliser phosphates.
